Lamp to My Feet

A Children’s Reading & Christian Literacy Initiative by Abiding Faith Christian Ministries

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
— Psalm 119:105

EVERY CHILD DESERVES THE JOY OF DISCOVERING GOD’S WORLD

At Abiding Faith Christian Ministries, we believe that children are a precious gift from God and that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and discover the purpose God has placed within them.

Through Lamp to My Feet, we seek to nurture children’s love for reading, strengthen their literacy skills, and help them grow in the knowledge and wisdom of God.

We believe that reading can open young minds to the beauty of creation, the experiences of others, and the possibilities of the future. Through age-appropriate books, Bible stories, storytelling, and creative activities, we encourage children to discover that learning is a gift and that their lives have meaning and purpose.

Our prayer is that every child will grow in wisdom, develop a love for learning, and come to know the love of Jesus Christ.

OPENING BOOKS. OPENING HEARTS. OPENING FUTURES.

The Bible reminds us:

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
— Proverbs 22:6

We believe that nurturing a child’s mind and nurturing a child’s faith can go hand in hand.

Through Lamp to My Feet, we create opportunities for children to read, ask questions, listen to stories, and discover the joy of learning. We also encourage them to explore God’s Word and understand how biblical values such as love, kindness, honesty, compassion, and perseverance can shape their lives.

We want children to discover that books can teach them about the world, while God’s Word helps them understand the One who created it.

WHAT WE DO

📖 BIBLE STORY & READING CLUBS

Children come together to read age-appropriate books, listen to Bible stories, and discuss what they have learned.

Through these sessions, we encourage children to develop their reading skills while discovering biblical truths and values.

📚 STORY TIME

We share stories that encourage imagination, learning, and reflection.

Children are invited to listen, ask questions, retell stories, and discover lessons about faith, courage, kindness, and trusting God.

✏️ CREATIVE LEARNING

Children express what they learn through drawing, writing, poetry, drama, and other creative activities.

They may create Bible storybooks, illustrate Scripture, write prayers, or share what they have learned through a story.

🏡 READING AT HOME

We encourage parents and caregivers to make reading and Bible storytelling part of family life.

A few minutes of reading together can become an opportunity for learning, prayer, conversation, and spiritual growth.

🎒 BOOK & BIBLE SHARING

We seek to increase children’s access to age-appropriate books, Christian literature, and reading resources.

Where possible, we will establish reading corners, community book collections, or mobile reading activities.

🌟 READING & FAITH CHALLENGES

Children are encouraged to set reading goals, explore new books, memorize Scripture, and celebrate their progress.

We want them to discover that learning can be joyful and that growing in faith is a lifelong journey.

WHY WE CARE ABOUT READING

Reading helps children grow in wisdom, confidence, and understanding.

It gives them opportunities to develop their vocabulary, express themselves, and explore new ideas.

But as a Christian ministry, we also believe that education should help children discover truth, develop good character, and understand their responsibility to God and others.

Through reading and Bible engagement, we hope to encourage children to:

Love God’s Word.
Grow in wisdom and understanding.
Develop strong literacy skills.
Think creatively and ask questions.
Show kindness, honesty, and compassion.
Discover their God-given gifts and potential.

OUR CHRISTIAN APPROACH

CHRIST-CENTRED

We seek to keep Jesus Christ at the heart of our ministry and encourage children to grow in their knowledge of God’s Word.

NURTURING THE WHOLE CHILD

We believe children need opportunities to grow intellectually, emotionally, socially, and spiritually.

MAKING LEARNING JOYFUL

We encourage children to read, discover, and learn with curiosity and enthusiasm.

BUILDING CHARACTER

Through stories, Scripture, and practical activities, we encourage values that reflect the love of Christ.

WORKING WITH FAMILIES

We believe parents and caregivers have an important role in nurturing children’s faith and learning.

SERVING WITH LOVE

We seek to create welcoming and supportive spaces where children can learn, feel valued, and experience the care of God’s people.

OUR VISION FOR EVERY CHILD

We long to see children who:

Know that they are loved by God.
Discover the joy of reading.
Grow in wisdom and understanding.
Develop stronger literacy skills.
Learn to express themselves with confidence.
Grow in faith and Christian character.
Discover their gifts and God-given potential.

We pray that as they grow, they will become young people who love God, serve others, and use their gifts to make a positive difference in the world.
